You can get some relief from repetition by playing the open g in the G7 chord again when you hit the b-string on the third fret or by playing an open b-string once in a while instead of always playing the b-string on the third fret. Just listen to the recording from the Live album for more ideas. Also, to spruce up the Fmaj7 chord, I've suggested two variations for that part of the progression below: Fmaj7 (suggestion #1) e---------------0---------------- b---1-------1-------1------------ g-------2---------------2---0---0 d-----3-------3-------3-------3-- a-------------------------------- e-1-------1-------1-------1------ Fmaj7 (suggestion #2) e---------------0-------0-------- b---1-------1-------1------------ g-------2-------------------0---0 d-----3-------3-------3-------3-- a-------------------------------- e-1-------1-------1-------1------ Part 3 Chorus G7sus G5 G7sus G5 e--------------------------------- b---1-------3-------1-------3----- g-------0-------0-------0-------0- d-----0-------0-------0-------0--- a--------------------------------- e-1-------3-------1-------3------- Repeat this for each line of the chorus. Once again, don't limit yourself to what's tabbed out here...embellish. Part 4 Bridge (Lay your body down.) Bb6 C G7 e---------------------------------------------------------------- b-----------3-----3s5-------5-------3-------3-------3-------3---- g-------0-------0-0-----0-------0-------0-------0-------0-------0 d-----3-------3-------5-------5-------3-------3-------3-------3-- a-1-------1-------1s3-----3-------------------------------------- e---------------------------------3-------3-------3-------3------ Bb6 C D/G G7sus G7 (Part 2) e--------------------------------------------------------------------- b-----------3-----3s5-------5-------7-------7---------------1p0------- g-------0-------0-0-----0-------0-------0-------0---------------0----- d-----3-------3-------5-------5-------7-------7---------------0------- a-1-------1-------1s3-----3-------5-------5-------5s3s1--------------- e-------------------------------------------------------0h1-------3--- (1) (2) Sunlight Splashes on my face, traces shadows of what's overhead. (2) And inside, I'm empty as a cave, I am hungry. I want to be fed. I am hungry... (2) Voices Echo in my ears, I hear them calling sweet honey laughter. (2) I lean over. I'm cupping both my hands 'cause it's the essence of all that I'm after. And you say, (3) "Come, come, cry me a river now. (3) Come, come, laugh out loud. (3) Come, come, let me hear your heart beat. (3) Come, come, lay your body down. Now won't you (4) lay your body down? Won't you lay your body down?" Repeat 2nd verse and Chorus the same as the first. You just have to repeat the bridge a few more times and improvise some verses with humming between bridges. If there are still some blanks that need filled in, listen to the recording a few more times either from Harrod & Funck's Live album or their self-titled, second record or email me with a specific question.
